Communications Summer
Leadership Academy
Overall Responsibility
This position will serve as part of the Communications team as well as in the classroom alongside other interns to have a full ministry experience.
The intern role will include social media planning, social media strategy execution, photography, story gathering, interviewing, and creative process development for events such as new sermon series, Engage Week, and others.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Planning, Strategy, and Execution
• Help brainstorm social content based on current events, best engagement, and upcoming church events
• Decide new ideas for social media
• Research trends from other churches and large organizations
• Work alongside Communications Manager laying out editorial calendars for the summer
Photography
• Gather photos to have on hand for print and digital advertising from the following areas:
o Kids Ministry
o Student Ministry
o Church events
o LIFE Groups
o Outreach
o Any others as needed…
Story Gathering and Interviewing
• Check in with ministry leaders weekly (or more frequently as needed) to gather compelling life-change stories about events, ministry, daily life
• Connect with those who have the stories to learn more and decipher best plan of action for relaying the story to our church body and others
Creative Process Development
• Deliver an outside perspective to events on our calendar and work through way on how to refresh them for this year
• Help determine digital content to be added to sermon series (sermon bumpers, videos, photos, etc.)
