One mission

Making disciples

of all the nations

Our desire? To be a church that makes disciples who go and make disciples.

The Great Commission

"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.'” Matthew 28:16-20 (NASB)

Our History

The First Baptist Church of Rogers was organized on March 6, 1883, with twelve members and Reverend John Dunnegan as the first pastor.

Initial meetings were held in C.D. Rearick’s home and various locations until the first building was constructed in 1887 on land donated by J. Wade Sikes at Second and Cherry Streets.

The church experienced growth but also struggled with economic challenges.

A.L. Jordan, pastor at the turn of the century, noted, “Its growth has been quiet and healthy; its bane has been the unsettled condition of so many of the people.”

By the time the building was sold for a new sanctuary, membership was around 200.

The second sanctuary, designed by architect A.O. Clark, opened on September 1, 1906, featuring stained-glass windows described as “the handsomest set of windows to be seen in Northwest Arkansas.”

In 1909, A.S. Teasdale donated a pipe organ, formally dedicated by Governor Brough.

In 1922, a stucco building for Sunday School rooms was constructed, with a south wing added in 1945 and a second floor in 1947.

In the 1950s, the church allocated 25% of its budget to support the Benton County Baptist Association, the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention. In 1951, the church planted Sunnyside Church, which remains active.

The church moved to a 10-acre site at 8th and Olive Streets in the 1960s, dedicating a new building in 1967.

Shortly after, the sanctuary at Second and Cherry Streets burned down.

The main stained glass window was preserved and displayed in the new buildings, illustrating Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.”

Further expansion included a youth building in 1975, a new auditorium in 1979, and additional facilities in 1996.

The 8th and Olive campus was replanted as a second campus and today it hosts four services in different languages, a weekly community meal ministry, a food pantry, and serves as a training center for our Church Planting Residency program.

The church experienced significant growth at the turn of the millennium and in 2004 the church purchased 60 acres on Pleasant Grove Road to provide space to accommodate the growth.

A new worship center was constructed on the Pleasant Grove property and the church moved to this new campus on September 12, 2010.

The church has continued to grow and expand the facilities on the Pleasant Grove campus, including a larger worship center which was completed in April of 2025.

Church planting is one part of the growth strategy for the church and to date First Baptist Rogers has planted three additional churches under the name Family Church. These churches are located outside of our Rogers campuses with two in Siloam Springs and one in Centerton.

God’s plans have far exceeded expectations, and the church is excited to see what opportunities God has for us in the future as we continue to remain focused on glorifying the saving name of Jesus Christ and making disciples in all the nations.
