Passage: Ephesians 5:18-33

Biblical marriage is decreed in God’s creative design.

Genesis 1-2

Biblical marriage is between a man and a woman.
Genesis 1: 27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Biblical marriage is deployed by being filled with the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 5:18-21

Biblical marriage is described with a wife submitting to  and respecting her husband as unto the Lord.

Ephesians 5:22-24, 33

Biblical marriage is described with a husband loving his wife as Christ loved the church.

Ephesians 5:25-30

Biblical marriage is described as a spiritual union.

Ephesians 5:31

Biblical marriage is a spiritual union.

Genesis 2:24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

Biblical marriage is intended for life.

Matthew 19:6 “So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”

Biblical marriage is described as a great mystery.

Ephesians 5:32

Biblical marriage reveals a mystery greater than marriage itself.  Your marriage is not only important to your family.  It is important to the church.  It is part of the preaching of the kingdom that we are called to do.

Biblical marriage is defended through spiritual warfare.

Ephesians 6:11-12

Marriage should not be battlefield where the husband and wife fighting each other. Marriage should be a united front where the husband and wife, together fight against the spiritual enemy against their family. Prayer is a key. Praying together is a key to divorce proof your marriage and grow together spiritually.
