Series: Greater Hope

Passage: 1 Peter 1:13-25

We must live a life of hope.  13

13 Therefore, aprepare your minds for action, bkeep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

            Hope is cultivated through preparation.

            Hope is anticipated through dedication.

            Hope is elevated through revelation.

We must live a life of holiness.

14 As aobedient children, do not bbe conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, 15 but alike the Holy One who called you, bbe holy yourselves also in all your behavior; 16 because it is written, “You shall be holy ,for I am holy.”

Holiness is positional being found in Christ.

Holiness is practical reflecting our faith in Christ.

We must live a life that fears God. 17-21

17If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; 18 knowing that you were not aredeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. 20 For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you 21 who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

We fear God because of Who God is. 17

We fear God because of where we are. 17

We fear God because of what was done for us. 18-21

You must live a life that loves others. 22

22 Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a csincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart

You must live a life rooted in the Word of God. 23-25

23 for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.

The Word of God is the seedfor spiritual life.

The Word of God is living.

The Word of God is enduring.
