Passage: 1 Peter 5:5-11

We can find hope when pride trips us up. 5‐6

Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a a fall. Proverbs 16:18

God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. (Proverbs 3:34; James 4:6)

Humility is relational.
All of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another... 5

Humility is required.
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God... 6

Humility is rewarded.
That He may exalt you at the proper time. 6

We can find hope when anxiety weighs us down. 7

Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

Anxiety is unproductive and destructive.

And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? Luke 12:25

We cast all our anxiety on Him in prayer.

Be anxious for nothing, but in EVERYTHING by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

We cast all our anxiety on Him being confident of His love.

What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or peril or sword? Romans 8:35

We can find hope when the devil tries to chew us up. 8‐9

Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a lion seeking someone to devour.

Be sensible and watchful. 8

Resist the devil, firm in your faith. 9 (James 4:6‐8)

Knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by Christians around the world. 9

We can find hope in God who calls us up to His eternal glory. 10

After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.

He is the God of all grace.

God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8

Suffering is temporary but heaven is forever.

In this you greatly rejoice, even though now fo a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials. I Peter 1:6

To Him be dominion forever and ever. AMEN. 11
