Passage: 1 Peter 3:1-12

Remember,

Submission exists in the Godhead.

. . .God is the head of Christ  1 Corinthians 11:3b

Submission is God’s plan for my life.

Submit therefore to God. . .James 4:7

Submission is for the sake of the Lord.

Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake. . .

God calls a godly wife to submit to her husband.

In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands

The purpose of this submission is for the lost husband’s salvation.

. . .so that even if any of them ae disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives. . . .1 Peter 3:1b

The result of this submission is to get the lost husband’s attention.

Minimize your words.

Maximize your godly behavior.

. . .as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior. 1 Peter 3:2

Your adornment must not be merely external-braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry or putting on dresses. . .1 Peter 3:3

. . . but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3:4

The pattern of this submission is has a biblical heritage.

5For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands; 6 just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, and you have become her children if you do what is right bwithout being frightened by any fear.

God calls godly husbands to be considerate of their wives.

Be considerate with a physical presence.

Live with your wife. . .

Be considerate in an understanding way.

. . .in an understanding way, as with bsomeone weaker, since she is a woman;

Be considerate as an impact on your spiritual life.

and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.

God calls godly families to live in harmony. 8-12
