Passage: 2 Peter 1:20-21

Scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit.

2 Peter 1:20-21 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, 21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

1 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17        so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

Scripture is illuminated by the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2:14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised

Scripture is empowered by the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit empowers the Word of God to bring conviction, conversion, and Christlikeness in the life of the believer.

The Holy Spirit empowers the preaching of the Word.

1 Thessalonians 1:5  For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy  Spirit and with full conviction;

1 Corinthians 2:4  and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

The Holy Spirit empowers the filling of the Word.

Colossians 3:16  Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Parallels

Ephesian 5:18-19 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord.

The Holy Spirit empowers spiritual warfare by the Word.

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. . .17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 With all prayer and petition, pray at all times in the Spirit. . .

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thought and intentions of the heart.
