Celebrating God’s Amazing Grace: The Grace of a Godly Mother

We celebrate God’s amazing grace by honoring mothers. 

While we are certainly focusing on mothers today, this message is also for fathers, and spiritual parents.

For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice... 2 Timothy 1:5

Honor your father and your mother... Exodus 20:12, Ephesians 6:2-3

Children are to cause their mother to rejoice.

Let your father and your mother be glad and let her rejoice who gave birth to you. Proverbs 23:25

Children are warned against foolishness and rebellion.

A foolish man despises his mother. Proverbs 15:20

A person who despises his mother is a fool.  The Bible says a lot about fools and none of it is good.  The fool has said in his heart that there is no God.  Psalm 14:1

The eye that mocks a father and scorns a mother, The ravens of the valley will pick it out and the young ravens will eat it. Proverbs 30:17

We celebrate God’s amazing grace by valuing what godly mothers do. 

A godly mother ignites faith.

...the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice 2 Timothy 1:5

A godly mother influences spiritual growth.

For this reason I remind you. . .2 Timothy 1:6a

A godly mother teaches convictions.

You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known 2 Tim. 3:14

A godly mother values Scripture.

And that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 2 Tim. 3:15
